SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Syracuse (19-13 overall, 3-9 ACC) lost to arv Notre Dame (29-7 overall, 9-3 ACC) 5-2 in the first game of the series.

Lindsey Hendrix started on the mound for the Orange and Ariana Adams came in relief in the fifth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams got on the board in the first inning. The Fighting Irish compiled three hits in the top of the fifth to score the first run of the game. Angel Jasso hit her first double of the day in the bottom of the inning to put herself in scoring position. Tessa Galipeau came up to the plate next and singled to right field to score Jasso from second base.

A solo home run for Notre Dame's Karina Gaskins gave Notre Dame the lead once again in the third inning. The Orange responded in their next trip to the plate. Jasso reached first base safely and stole second to position herself for a scoring opportunity. Syracuse managed to push a run across after a wild pitch and an error from Notre Dame's Payton Tidd to tie the score at 2-2.

The Fighting Irish added a run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to extend their lead to 5-2. In the bottom of the seventh Jasso attempted to ignite the Syracuse offense with a double to left field in the second at bat of the inning. She stole third to mark her third stolen base of the day. Despite her efforts, the Orange couldn't push a run across in the final inning of the game.

OF NOTE

Jasso led the Orange at the plate, producing two doubles and a walk.
Kelly Breen, Tessa Galipeau and Jude Padilla had one hit each. Tessa's single was an RBI and scored the first run for Syracuse.
Taylor Posner's at bat produced the second run for the Orange.
Jasso stole three bases in the game totaling 16 on the year. This is the second time this season she has stolen three bases in a game.
