
#6 Orange Win the Conlan Cup

The sixth-ranked Syracuse men's rowing varsity eight edged #14 Boston University to win the Conlan Cup for the first time since 2017 on Sunday morning at Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vt.

#5 Dartmouth (5:46.4) claimed the win in the V8 beating Syracuse (5:51.6) by open water while the Orange had the nearly a three-second win over the Terriers (5:54.3). In the 2V8, Syracuse (6:00.7) placed third behind Dartmouth (5:51.2) and BU (5:57.5), respectively.
In the third varsity eight race Dartmouth (5:52.4) claimed its third victory of the day while Syracuse (5:57.3) was second and Boston U (6:13.6) was third.
In the final race of the day, Dartmouth's 4V8 (6:01.8) and 5V8 (6:07.6) had open water over Syracuse's 4V8 (6:19.1).
Sunday concludes the regular season for the men's rowing team which now turns its attention to the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 15 in Worcester, Mass.Â
ABOUT THE CONLAN CUP
Syracuse and Boston University have been racing for the Conlan Cup every year since 1987 when the trophy was created. The race is named after Bill Conlan who was the founder of the Boston University rowing program. The Orange has won the cup 16 times in 30 years. The Conlan Cup was not contested in 1996.Â
