
Orange Rowing Returning to NCAA Championship!

Syracuse rowing will compete in the NCAA Championship for the second year in a row and the fifth time in the last six championships. The 11th-ranked Orange are one of three Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the 22-team field at the 2022 NCAA Championship is May 27th to May 29th at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.
"Going to the NCAAs for the fifth time in the past six years speaks to the consistency of the program," said head coach Luke McGee. "It means we have become one of the top programs in the country. We are excited to be going back. The team is thrilled to have another chance to race after ACCs. They feel like they still have more to prove and are thankful for that opportunity on this stage. It will be some incredibly fast racing."

Syracuse has competed in nine NCAA Championships, including 2021 when the Orange recorded the best team finish in program history with a 10th place performance. The Orange have competed in four of the last five NCAA Championships (2016, 2017, 2018, 2021; no championship in 2020 due to COVID-19).

Syracuse won the 2022 Lake Wheeler Invitational, taking home the Pocock Cup, which is based on team scoring, by winning the 16-team regatta. The 15th-ranked Orange scored 83 points, beating 11th-ranked Duke (82 points), ninth-ranked Penn (third), and five other teams receiving votes in the national rankings, in Navy, UCF, Clemson, Louisville and Boston University. Syracuse won four of five races on Saturday morning to give the Orange a total of nine wins in 15 races at the regatta. Syracuse's second varsity eight and second varsity four swept the field, winning all three races during the event.

At the ACC Championship, the varsity eight and second varsity eight crews both came within two seconds of first-place Virginia to propel the Orange to a second place on Saturday, May 14. The second-place finishes by the top boats earned 56 points combined for the Orange and put them one point ahead of third-place Duke. The Orange scored 83 points, which was second to Virginia's 98 points.

50 YEARS OF SYRACUSE WOMEN'S ATHLETICS
Orange alumni, fans and friends are invited to share in a year-long celebration of 50 years of Syracuse University women's athletics. Events and special recognition of all female student-athletes who have donned the Block S to represent Syracuse University and the Athletics Department since 1971-72 will be held throughout the 2021-22 seasons. As we celebrate this history, we acknowledge those who have gone before us to set the standard we strive to achieve today so we can pave the way for the future. We reflect on the history of women in sport, admire their sacrifices, recognize their contributions and accomplishments, and honor their legacy.
