MEN'S 110-METER HURDLES | WEDNESDAY, 2 PM
Jaheem Hayles will kick start the week for the Orange, as he runs in the first round of the 110-meter hurdles.
Hayles owns the 11th-fastest time in the region, posting a time of 13.57 earlier this season. The event is filled with familiar faces for Hayles, who recently took third at the ACC Championships. Five of the top-16 runners are from the ACC, including meet favorite Trey Cunningham, who posted a time of 13.10 seconds.
Hayles is in the final heat of the first round on Wednesday. The top-three from each heat, plus the next six fastest times from across the six heats will advance to Friday's quarterfinal. In his heat, Michigan's Joshua Zeller (13.19) has the best season-best time, followed by Hayles' 13.57. Louisiana's Yves Cherubin at 13.60 is the only other person in the heat that has run sub-13.75 this season.
MEN'S 1500-METER RUN | WEDNESDAY, 2:30 PM
Nathan Henderson is entered in the 1500-meter run and will also be in the final heat of four. The top-five from each heat, plus the next four fastest times from across all heats will advance to Friday's quarterfinal.
Henderson (3:42.02) has the seventh-fastest season-best mark in his heat, which is led by Georgetown's Matthew Payamps at 3:37.60. Alabama's Eliud Kipsang is in the third heat, but enters with the fastest time in NCAA history at 3:33.74, a record he set in April.
MEN'S 10000-METER RUN | WEDNESDAY, 5:10 PM
Three Syracuse runners are entered in the men's 10k, with Joe Dragon, JP Trojan and Matthew Scrape all entered in the race. This event is a one-race semifinal, with the top-12 finishers advancing to Eugene, Oregon.
Two of 'Cuse's runners are right on the cusp based on this season's times. Dragon is 13th (28:34.09) and Trojan is 15th (28:35.16). Scrape owns the 41st-best time at 29:07.86. Florida State's Adriaan Wildschutt has the best time from the east this season at 27:38.54. The field is also loaded with ACC talent, as 10 of the top-18 runners are from the conference and nearly half (20 of 48) of the total field is from ACC schools.
WOMEN'S 10000-METER RUN | THURSDAY, 9:10 PM
The women's 10k will follow the same protocol as the men – one semifinal with the top-12 finishers advancing. For 'Cuse their hopes lie with Abigail Spiers as the only member of the Orange entered. She enters with the 41st-best time in the east at 34:17.86.
ACC Champion Lauren Ryan of Florida State has the top time entering the meet at 32:56.53. Much like the men's race, it'll have an ACC flavor. Seventeen of the 48 competitors hail from the conference.
MEN'S 3000-METER STEEPLECHASE | FRIDAY, 5:40 PM
Kevin Robertson will toe the line in the men's steeplechase. Like the 10ks, this is a one-race quarterfinal to get to Eugene, however, for those who qualify, there will be semifinals and a final at the NCAA Championship site.
At this week's meet, there will be three heats of 16 runners, with the top-three from each heat, plus the next three fastest times qualifying to Eugene.
For Robertson, he owns the 30th-fastest seed time of the 48 competitors and will be running in the second heat. His season-best time of 8:46.98 is seventh in his heat. Eastern Kentucky's Ahmed Jaziri is the top competitor by nearly six seconds at 8:24.33, but is in heat one.
WOMEN'S 3000-METER STEEPLECHASE | SATURDAY, 5:40 PM
Annie Boos is Syracuse's top-ranked runner in any event, entering the steeplechase with the eighth-best time in the east.
The ACC bronze medalist in the event, Boos is one-of-three runners in her heat that has run under-10 minutes this season. Her season-best mark of 9:56.28 is third to Duke's Emily Cole (9:48.20) and Auburn's Joyce Kimeli (9:41.15) in heat one of three.
The top-three finishers in each heat, plus the next three fastest times will qualify to the semifinals in Eugene.
