SYRACUSE, N.Y.-Â Syracuse (24-20 overall, 6-15 ACC) beat North Carolina (23-27 overall, 6-17 ACC) with a score of 6-2 on senior day.Â
Neli Casares-Maher and Carli Campbell were the two seniors honored at the conclusion of the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshmen Laila Avles got the Orange bats going in the bottom of the second inning with her double off the right field wall, scoring Tessa Galipeau from second base. North Carolina pitcher Lilli Backes walked the bases loaded when Olivia Pess was at the plate with Campbell at third and Alves at second. Angel Jasso was hit by a pitch to send in the second run.Â
The Orange were not finished yet. Casares-Maher came to the plate and sent a single to center field to drive in two more runs. The score at the end of two innings was 4-0.Â
In her next at bat in the bottom of the fifth, Casares-Maher nailed her 12th home run of the season, second of the weekend to add another run to the board for Syracuse.Â
A string of North Carolina hits in the top of the sixth broke up the shutout. The Tar Heels scored two runs making the score 5-2.Â
Two doubles in the bottom of the sixth extended the Orange lead 6-2. Angel Jasso hit a double to left field and was knocked in by another to left field off the bat of Kelly Breen.Â
The final score of game two of the series was 6-2 Syracuse.

The Orange and the Tar Heels will conclude the series on Sunday, May 8 at 12:00 pm. The game will be streamed on the ACCNX. The winning team will advance to the ACC Tournament next week.Â
Syracuse will honor two more seniors after the game tomorrow. Ariana Adams and Paris Woods will be the two players recognized.
