11/4/2023 8:20:00 PM | Women's Rowing
The Orange competed in two 4.8K races at the 2023 Cornell Autumn Classic on Saturday on the Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca, N.Y. The races against Cornell and Ithaca started in the Inlet and finished the final 3K on the lake. In the first event, Syracuse's first, second, third and fourth varsity fours finished in the top four spots, while the fifth and sixth varsity fours placed 10th and 11th, respectively. The Orange first, second and third eights placed first through third, respectively, and fifth varsity eight took seventh. The fourth varsity eight took second in its heat.
Â
"It was a strong team performance to cap off the Fall season," said head coach Luke McGee. "I was pleased with the effort from all the boats and how the overall team has been progressing this year. Now we'll shift our focus toward the winter training season and finishing the semester strong in the classroom."
Syracuse will open the 2024 season with a scrimmage at the University of Virginia on March 16. The first race of the championship season will be the ACC/Big 10/Ivy Dual against Indiana and Penn on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. on March 23.
