Syracuse's fifth year guard Dyaisha Fair was named to the 2023-24 Jersey Mike's Naismith Women's Player of the Year Watch List on Friday afternoon.Â
Fair, the second ranked active scoring leader in the country with 2,691 career points, is one of the top guards in the nation. After spending her first three seasons at Buffalo, she transfered to Syracuse prior to the 2022-23 season. In Fair's first season in the ACC she was the second-leading scorer in the nation's top league with 19.9 points per game. She earned All-ACC First Team and All-ACC Defensive Team honors and was WBCA All-America honorable mention.Â
Fair decided to utilize her extra year of collegiate eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic and return to Syracuse for a final season with second year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack.Â
The Orange return eight players, including three starters alongside Fair, while adding five faces to the squad for the 2023-24 season which tips off Tuesday night.
The 50-person watch list will be updated throughout the season. This year's watch list features 2023 recipient Caitlin Clark and some of the nation's top talent including some from the ACC. Georgia Amoore (Virginia Tech), Sonia Citron (Notre Dame), Olivia Cochran (Louisville), Deja Kelly (North Carolina), Elizabeth Kitley (Virginia Tech), Ta'Niya Latson (Florida State), Olivia Miles (Notre Dame), Saniya Rivers (NC State), and Alyssa Ustby (North Carolina) round out the ACC players on the list.Â
