
Orange Open ACC Play Sunday vs. #13 Irish

Syracuse enters its Atlantic Coast Conference opener on Sunday, Dec. 31 with a 10-1 record and a seven-game win streak. The Orange host No. 13 Notre Dame (9-1) at for a TWO Year's Eve Party at the JMA Wireless Dome. The family-friendly New Year's Eve themed game will tip-off at 2 p.m. on ACC Network with Sam Gore and Aja Ellison on the call.Â
Prior to tip-off, junior guard Georgia Woolley will be presented with a commemorative ball celebrating 1,000 career points. The Australian native recorded her 1,000th point on a three-pointer late in Syracuse's win over Saint Francis on Dec. 21. Woolley began her career at Buffalo where she scored 497 points as a freshman. She has tallied 503 points to date at Syracuse.Â
Dyaisha Fair enters the game 20th on the NCAA Division I all-time scoring list with 2,900 points. She is six points away from moving to 19th on the all-time list. Fair leads the team with 19.0 points per game this season. She tallied 17 off the bench in Syracuse's last outing against Saint Francis.Â
Alyssa Latham leads the team with four double doubles this season. The freshman forward averages 10.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. She is coming off a 12 point, 10 rebound performance against the Red Flash on Dec. 21. Junior captain Kyra Wood grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds last game, which was her third consecutive start at center for the Orange.Â
Notre Dame leads the all-time series 39-4 and has won the last four meetings. Sunday's game features two black female head coaches who are at the helm of their alma mater after being All-Americans during their playing careers. Niele Ivey led the Irish to the 2000 NCAA National Championship and was a longtime assistant under legendary ND head coach Muffett McGraw. Syracuse's Felisha Legette-Jack led the Orange to their first NCAA Tournament appearance as a freshman in 1984-85 while earning All-America honorable mention accolades from FastBreak Magazine. Legette-Jack also served as an assistant at Syracuse in the 1990s.Â
