
Orange Hold Steady at No. 2

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse is No. 2 in the ILWomen/IWLCA national rankings for the second consecutive week. The Orange earned six first-place votes, one more than a week ago, and 654 points.

Syracuse recorded a pair of victories last week to improve its record to 4-0. The Orange defeated Binghamton, 17-10, before opening ACC at Pittsburgh with a 16-4 win. Syracuse has started the season with four straight wins for the third consecutive year.

Defending national champion North Carolina remains No. 1 in the national rankings. The Tar Heels received 21 first-place votes and 669 points. Northwestern (617 pts.) and Boston College (592 pts.) held down the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively, for the second straight week. Maryland (540 pts.) moved up one spot to No. 5.

Two of the Orange's four wins have come against teams ranked in this week's top five. Syracuse will also face ACC foes North Carolina and Boston College in April. Overall, the Orange will still face five of this week's top 10 this season.
