'Cuse Sweeps Ivy-Big Ten Double Dual

The Orange won every race at the the Ivy-Big Ten Double Dual on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. Syracuse finished first in all five races against Radcliffe and Rutgers in the morning and beat Iowa in all five races in the afternoon in the first racing of the season for the Orange.

Syracuse vs. Radcliffe and Rutgers
The varsity eight posted the best time of the day covering the 2,000-meter course in 7:02.5, defeating Radcliffe (7:12.9) and Rutgers (7:17.2) in the third race of the day.

The varsity four set the tone for the racing beating Rutgers by seven seconds and Radcliffe by 17 seconds in the opening race. Syracuse's second varsity eight followed suit by winning the race nine seconds ahead of Radcliffe and 13 seconds in front of Rutgers.

In the second varsity four race, the Orange beat Rutgers by three seconds and Radcliffe by 22 seconds. The 'Cuse third varsity eight won its race in 8:11.9, ahead of Rutgers' 5V8, Radcliffe's 3V8, Rutgers' 3V8. Syracuse's 4V8 finished fourth in the race followed by Rutgers' 4V8.

Syracuse vs. Iowa
In the afternoon session, Syracuse's varsity eight finished more than 30 seconds ahead of Iowa, while the second varsity eight beat the Hawkeyes by nearly 40 seconds to remain unbeaten on the day. In the second varsity four race, Syracuse crossed the finish line seven seconds ahead of Iowa. In the final race of the day, the Orange third varsity eight beat Iowa by 16 seconds and Syracuse's fourth varsity eight came in third.

The Orange will race at the Doc Hosea Invitational on Saturday, April 1 on the same course as the races today on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
