
Tennis Dominates Coppin State, 7-0

Syracuse tennis got back to its winning ways against Coppin State on Saturday, defeating the Eagles, 7-0, in dominant fashion.
With only four players representing Coppin State (0-8, MEAC), Syracuse (10-1, 3-1) won the doubles point early as Viktoriya Kanapatskaya/Shiori Ito claimed a 6-0 victory over Kenyange Kaounde/Mackenzie Jones. Although the point was already won, Zeynep Erman/Ines Fonte closed out a 6-3 triumph versus Megan Etienne/Emperess Johnson.Â
The Orange commanded singles play, not allowing the Eagles to win a single set. Coppin State forfeited the number five and six singles matches, so Polina Kozyreva clinched the duel for Syracuse by defeating Jones (CSU) 6-0, 6-0. Fonte took down Johnson (CSU), Ito triumphed against Kaounde (CSU), and Miyuka Kimoto prevailed versus Etienne (CSU) all in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).
Syracuse ends its weekend and returns to ACC play tomorrow against Virginia Tech at 11 a.m. inside the Drumlins Tennis Club.
