Orange #1 For Fifth Straight Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse once again received every first-place vote in the ILWomen/IWLCA poll to claim the No. 1 spot in the rankings for a program-best fifth consecutive week. The Orange are one of two undefeated Division I teams, entering the final week of the regular season with a 15-0 record.

Syracuse defeated then No. 5 North Carolina, 14-12, last Saturday to match the longest winning streak in program history. It marks the sixth time that the Orange have won 10 or more games in a row since the program began in 1998.

The top four teams remained the same in this week's rankings as Northwestern (528 pts.) is No. 2, followed by Denver (500 pts.) and James Madison (480 pts.). Boston College, which takes on Syracuse on Thursday, moved up two spots to No. 5, earning 442 points.

The Orange have recorded five wins against teams ranked in this week's top 10 and eight against the top 20. Syracuse's strength of schedule currently ranks fourth in the nation.

The regular-season finale is set for Thursday against the No. 5 Eagles at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. The game will be televised on ACC Network.
