
6 Wins, More Than A Dozen PRs For 'Cuse Track Friday

The Syracuse track and field teams tallied six wins and more than a dozen personal records across a pair of meets on Friday afternoon.
A crew of distance competitors headed to Winston-Salem for the Wake Forest Invitational. There, Nathan Henderson (3:40.14) was eighth in the 1,500-meter run, followed by Noah Carey (3:43.26) in 15th with a new PR.
Paul O'Donnell finished seventh in the 5,000-meters with a new PR of 13:42.27. Assaf Harari (14:17.17) Nathan Lawler (14:24.22), Karl Winter (14:31.42) and Alex Comerford (14:45.45) also ran for the Orange.
Savannah Roark placed ninth in the women's 5k, finishing in 16:04.56. Teammates Abigail Spiers (16:21.54) and Ellie Lawler (16:26.94) were 21st and 22nd, respectively, with Lawler earning a new PR in the process. Sophia Jacobs-Townsley did the same, racing to a time of 16:43.37, while Shona McCulloch posted a time of 16:48.19.
Alexander Segarra set a new PR of 1:51.22 in the 800-meter run, which earned him fourth overall.
At the Bobbi Palma Classic, hosted by UAlbany, Trei Thorogood tied for the win in the 200-meter dash. He and Albany's Travis Williams each ran 20.77 seconds and shared the top-spot. James Nmah (21.78) and Daijon Richards (21.92) were sixth and eighth, respectively.
Alex Herbst led four Orange into the top-five of the 1,500. He won the event in 3:59.53. Kamari Miller was second in 4:07.15, followed by Patrick Malone (4:12.78) and Matthew Dragon (4:13.67) in fourth and fifth with new personal bests. The women's race saw similar results, with four Orange placing in the top-six. Caroline Kirby (4:41.02) earned the won, edging Shanley Koekemoer by 0.41 seconds. Reilly Zink (4:44.61) finished third, and Lucy Zombek finished sixth.
Catriona McKeown added to the win totals in the 400. She finished in 59.13 seconds, which was a new career best. Kristine Krumpfer (1:02.73) was fifth, Ariel Haywood (1:04.04) finished sixth, and Sarah Eddy (1:06.23) was 10th. Haywood and Eddy turned in new PRs in the process.
Kensey May won the women's 5k while racing unattached. She crossed the line in 17:09.13, before Madeline Heintz (17:14.21), Emily Nugent (17:21.16) and Siobhan O'Keefe took the next three spots.
Bethany Steiner cruised to victory in the 3000-meter steeplechase, nearly 50 seconds ahead of the field. She finished in 11:06.59, another personal best on the day.
Richards turned in a new PR in the 100-meter dash (10.79), which was the second-fastest collegiate time at the meet.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Naseem Smith took second in 14.16 seconds, followed by David Peters one spot back.
CJ Fox finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.54 seconds, two spots ahead of Sheridan McGadden (15.12) and Olivia Etienvre (15.73).
Ryder Kriley ran to a mark of 1:58.45 in the 800.
The Penn Relays are up next weekend for the teams.
