The No. 5 ranked Orange earned an open water victory over #16 Georgetown on the final day of the Lake Morey Invite Sunday morning in Fairlee, Vt. The Orange close out the regular season with a 7-1 record in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight and will have two weeks to prepare for the Eastern Sprints on May 14 in Worcester, Mass.Â
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to do well and we executed well which was good," Lachlan Doust, four seat of the V8 said. "In the Georgetown race, there were strong headwinds and it was tougher conditions this morning but we did well and crossed the finish in front."Â
In the second race of the morning, Syracuse's 2V8+ edged the Orange 3V8+ in a photo finish. Georgetown crossed the finish in third.Â
The 4V8+ lost to Dartmouth in the third race of the morning but had the advantage on Boston U while the V4+ finished third behind a pair of Dartmouth fours in the third and final race of the weekend for the Orange crew.Â
Syracuse returns to the water on May 14 for the Eastern Sprints at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.Â
