All Four Varsity Eight Crews Advance to Grand Finals at Eastern Sprints

The Syracuse men's rowing team advanced all four varsity eight boats to the Grand Finals on Sunday morning at the Eastern Sprints Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The finals begin at 1:10 p.m. with the varsity four, which did not have a morning heat race.

The morning started with the fourth varsity eight placing third in Heat 2, clocking in at 5:47.486, which was the third-fastest time of the morning for the 4V8 heats and securing a spot in the Grand Final. The Orange were 2.928 behind Harvard, who won the heat, and 1.766 seconds behind Dartmouth. The 4V8 Grand Final is set for 2 p.m. and 'Cuse will be in Lane 5.
The Orange third varsity eight placed third in Heat 1 crossing the finish in 5:47.192, 5.546 seconds behind winner Yale and 1.62 seconds behind Dartmouth, to earn a spot in the Grand Final. The Orange turned in the fifth fastest time of the morning heats and will race in the Grand Final at 3:10 p.m. in Lane 5.
In the third race of the day for Syracuse, the Varsity eight placed second in Heat 2 finishing the 2000-meter course in 5:35.193, 1.722 seconds behind Harvard. Each of the top two teams from the varsity eight heats advance to the afternoon's Grand Final at 6:10 p.m. Syracuse will be in Lane 4.
In the 2V8 race, which was the last heat of the morning for the Orange, Syracuse finished second in Heat 2. Harvard finished in 5:37.518 while the Orange were 2.256 seconds behind crossing the final buoy in 5:39.774 to advance to the Grand Final at 4:00 p.m.
