
Varsity Eight Crew Ranked #5 in Final Poll

The final IRCA/IRA Coaches Poll of the season was announced Wednesday afternoon and the Orange varsity eight checked in at No. 5. 'Cuse is ranked No. 6 in the final Ten Eyck Team Points Poll.Â
The V8 is coming off a third-place finish at this past weekend's Eastern Sprints marking the first time since 1978 the Orange earned a medal in the annual regatta. Cal and Yale remained ranked #1 and #2, respectively, while Princeton jumped from No. 6 to No.3 after placing second at the Eastern Sprints behind Yale and ahead of 'Cuse.
The 2V8, sixth in the final poll, placed fourth at the Eastern Sprints, moving the Orange crew ahead of Yale in the poll for the first time this season. California remained No. 1 in the 2V8 poll while Washington jumped from #3 to #2 and Harvard entered the top three after earning gold at Sprints.Â
In the 3V8 poll, the Orange checked in at No. 8, maintaining their spot from the previous poll. Washington and Yale are tied for #1 in the final poll. The Orange 3V8 placed sixth at the Eastern Sprints and was one of four Orange eights to make the Grand Finals at Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond.Â
The Orange moved to sixth overall in team points. Syracuse finished fifth in the Rowe Cup at Eastern Sprints, which is awarded to the team with the most points (Yale).Â
Syracuse has just under three weeks to prepare for the 2023 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta June 2-4 at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
