
Six Named To IL All-America Teams

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Six members of the Orange were named to Inside Lacrosse's All-America Teams that were announced on Thursday, May 18. Syracuse's six selections tied for the third-highest total in the nation.

Meaghan Tyrrell and Delaney Sweitzer were All-America First Team selections, while Emma Ward was selected to the third team. In addition, Megan Carney, Sierra Cockerille and Emma Tyrrell earned honorable mention accolades.

Meaghan Tyrrell ranks second in the nation in points per game (5.35) and seventh in assists per game (2.60). Her 107 points rank third nationally. Tyrrell, the ACC Attacker of the Year, is the first Syracuse and ninth Division I player to record 400 career points. She ranks sixth on the Division I all-time points list with 415.

Sweitzer ranks seventh in the nation save percentage (.513), 11th in saves (182), 13th in goals-against average (9.26) and third in ground balls per game (3.60). She earned the ACC Goalkeeper of the Year award and was a first-team All-ACC honoree. Sweitzer has recorded 10 or more saves in eight games this season.

Ward is second in the nation in assists per game (2.80) and third in total assists (56). She also has 36 goals for a career-best 92 points. Ward earned All-ACC First Team accolades and was selected to the ACC All-Tournament Team. She recorded five or more points in nine contests in 2023.

Carney is Syracuse's leading goal scorer with 58. She also ranks fourth in points with 64. Carney scored four goals in each of the first four games of the season and posted three or more goals 11 times. The second-team All-ACC honoree currently ranks eighth on the Orange's all-time points (269) and goals (191) leader lists.

Cockerille has recorded a career-high 28 goals this season. The midfielder has also added 18 ground balls, 21 draw controls and seven caused turnovers. Cockerille recorded multiple goals in nine games, including hat tricks against Boston College and Virginia Tech. She was selected to the All-ACC Second Team.

Emma Tyrrell has posted career highs in points (67) and goals (51) this season. She also has recorded 30 draw controls, 12 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Tyrrell, who earned second-team All-ACC honors, had her best offensive performance of her career in Syracuse's win against Johns Hopkins in the second round of the NCAA Tournament when she scored seven goals and finished with eight points.

The No. 2 seed Orange have advanced to Championship Weekend for the ninth time in program history and will take on No. 3 seed Boston College in the national semifinals on Friday, May 26 in Cary, N.C. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
