
Five Earn IWLCA All-America Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Five Syracuse Orange have been selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America Team. Graduate student Meaghan Tyrrell, senior Delaney Sweitzer and junior Emma Ward earned first-team All-America honors, while graduate students Megan Carney and Sierra Cockerille were third-team honorees. Syracuse's three first-team selections tied for the most for any school.

Tyrrell ranks second in the nation in points per game (5.35) and seventh in assists per game (2.60). She earned ACC Attacker of the Year honors and was an All-ACC First Team and ACC All-Tournament Team selection. Tyrrell recorded six or more points in a game 10 times in 2023, which included a career-high 11 points against Maryland. She became Syracuse's all-time points leader this season and ranks sixth on the Division I all-time points list with 415.

Sweitzer has started every game in goal this season and ranks seventh in the nation in save percentage (.513), 11th in saves (182) and 13th in goals-against average. In addition, Sweitzer is third nationally in ground balls per game (3.60). The ACC Goalkeeper of the Year and first-team All-ACC honoree posted 10 or more saves in eight games in 2023.

Ward leads the team and ranks second in the nation in assists per game (2.80). She also ranks second on the team in points with a career-high 92. Ward has dished out 56 assists this season, which is the third-highest single-season total in program history. She posted five or more points in nine games this season. Ward was selected to the All-ACC First Team as well as the ACC All-Tournament Team.

Carney leads Syracuse and ranks sixth in the ACC in goals with 58. She also ranks fourth in points with 64. Carney, a second-team All-ACC selection, tallied four goals in each of the first four games of the year and has recorded three or more goals in 11 games. She ranks eighth in career points (269) and goals (191) on Syracuse's career leader lists.

Cockerille has anchored the Orange midfield this season. She has scored a career-high 28 goals, including two hat tricks, to go along with 12 assists. In addition, Cockerille has 18 ground balls, seven caused turnovers and a career-best 21 draw controls. She earned All-ACC second team accolades.

The Orange take on Boston College in the national semifinals on Friday, May 26 at 5:30 p.m. in Cary, N.C.
