COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With training camp wrapped up, Syracuse University field hockey standout Charlotte de Vries has been named to the United States Women's National Team. USA Field Hockey and USWNT head coach David Passmore made the announcement on Tuesday.
"I'm honored and excited for the opportunity to continue representing my country on an international stage," said de Vries.
The program's first-ever four-time NFHCA All-American, de Vries was among 34 athletes named to the USWNT. De Vries, who was also named to the US Hockey5s Pan American Cup team, has nine international appearances to her credit as a striker/midfielder. The Malvern, Pennsylvanian has represented the United States at several levels, including a bronze medal at the 2021 Junior Pan American Championship where she finished as the tournament's top scorer.
With the Orange, de Vries has 99 career points with 40 goals and 19 assists, playing in all 75 games of her career, including 71 starts. Her 99 points rank seventh all-time at Syracuse, while her 40 career goals are tied for the sixth-most by a 'Cuse player.
The 2023 Pan American Games will take place in late October into November in Santiago, Chile as the US side looks to qualify for the upcoming Olympic Games next summer in Paris.
