FINALS BOUND! Syracuse Will Race for the Temple Challenge Cup at Henley
7/1/2023 10:26:00 AM | Men's Rowing
For the first time in program history, Syracuse will have a team in the Temple Challenge Cup final at Henley Royal Regatta. The Orange eight defeated Oxford Brookes 'B' in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon in Henley-on-Thames, England to advance to a cup final at Henley since 1988 when the Orange lost the Prince Philip Challenge Cup (Open M4+) to Canada's Vancouver Rowing Club.Â
The Orange used a strong start to get up on Oxford Brookes 'B' in the semifinal, its first semis appearance in the Temple Challenge Cup. Syracuse maintained a length on their opponents and held on to win by 2 and 1/4ths length on the Thames River. 'Cuse advances to face Oxford Brookes 'A' in the final on Sunday. Oxford Brookes 'A' reached the final earlier on Saturday by defeating the University of Washington by 1 and 3/4ths length.Â
Race time for Sunday's Temple Challenge Cup final is 7:40 am (ET).Â
