Freddie Crittenden III is headed to the World Championships!
The 2018 Orange alum and 2023 U.S. Indoor Champion made his first worlds squad with a third-place finish in Sunday's USA Track and Field Championships 110-meter hurdles final.
Crittenden, who crossed the line in 13.23 seconds, was only bested by Daniel Roberts (13.05) and Cordell Tinch (13.08) in the final and earned the third qualifying spot for the Americans to Budapest in August.
Â
A five-time All-American and six-time All-ACC honoree in his time at Syracuse, Crittenden was a runner-up in back-to-back seasons at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in his collegiate career at Syracuse, where he graduated in 2017. He has since had a successful international career and also competed regularly in the Diamond League and American Track League.
Crittenden III wasn't the only Orange hurdler in the finals of their respective nation. Jaheem Hayles qualified for the finals of the same event at Jamaica's national championships. Additionally, Amanda Vestri turned in an eighth-place finish in the women's 10,000-meter final at the USATF Championships, and former Orange runner Aidan Tooker finished 14th at the meet in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
