
World Rowing Championship Report: Kralikaite and Taylor Set for Day 3

Syracuse senior Kamile Kralikaite and her Lithuanian pair partner Ieva Adomaviciute finished second in their heat to advance to the repechage of the women's pair event at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. Joining Kralikaite on the water on Day 3 will be Orange alumna Hattie Taylor '17, who will row in seven seat for the Great Britain eight.

In their heat Kralikaite and Adomaviciute crossed the finish line in 7:19.69, behind Australia (7:11.83), and ahead of Italy, Poland and Croatia. The pair will race in the repechage at 5:47 am ET on Tuesday, September 5th against Germany, Czech Republic and Canada.

Taylor and the Great Britain eight will race at 7:47 am (ET) on Sept. 5th in the second women's eight heat against Roumania, Germany and Italy. The Sunningdale, England native has rowed for the Great Britain national team since 2019, including at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo (held in 2021 due to COVID-19).

The 2023 World Rowing Championship, which began on September 3rd and continues through the 10th, features nearly 1,000 athletes from 74 delegations who will compete during eight days of racing in 27 boat classes. The rowers will compete for the title of World Champion and the opportunity to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.

In July, Kralikaite won the U23 World Championship with Orange teammate Martyna Kazlauskaite in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Kralikaite rowed for Syracuse's 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference champion varsity eight that finished eighth at the 2023 NCAA Championship. It was the first varsity eight ACC title in program history. Adomaviciute is an accomplished international rower who has won multiple gold medals on the world stage who rowed collegiately at Washington State.
