The Orange cracked the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll Top-25 at No. 25 earlier this week and will host #18 Florida State (14-4, 5-1 ACC), at the JMA Wireless Dome for Throwback Thursday on Feb. 18. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra which can be streamed online or through the ESPN app.Â
Second-year Syracuse women's basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack and her squad have won 14-straight home games and are 10-0 at home this season. The Orange erased a 19-point third quarter deficit on Sunday to preserve the clean sheet at home defeating Clemson, 83-82. Alyssa Latham scored the game-winning basket with sevens seconds to play in regulation on a perfect pass through the lane from fifth-year guard Dyaisha Fair. Fair scored 19 of her 21 points in the second half to lift the Orange to victory. She scored 14 points in the second half to reach 3,000 career points and now stands 15th on the NCAA Division I women's basketball scoring list with 3,007 career points.
Fair will be recognized for her monumental milestone prior to tipoff vs. the Seminoles on Thursday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure a limited edition Dyaisha Fair 3K poster while supplies last.Â
Florida State is ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press Top-25 and 18th in the USA Today Poll. The Seminoles are coming off a pair of big wins over top-25 opponents last week defeating UNC and Virginia Tech at home. FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff is in her second season at the helm and has led the Seminoles to a 5-1 record in the ACC.Â
FSU leads the all-time series 5-6 and won last year's matchup in Tallahassee, 78-65, on Feb. 16, 2023. The Seminoles have won the last two meetings and three of the last four. Syracuse and FSU have had some thrillers over the years including Syracuse's 68-67 buzzer beating win in Greensboro during the 2021 ACC Tournament or the infamous 'Napkin Play' win when Emily Englster beat the buzzer on an in-bound play to defeat the then-ranked Seminoles 90-89 at the Dome. Fans can't forget Tiana Mangakahia's 44-point performance in an 94-88 win over a ranked FSU squad in Tallahassee on Feb 28, 2019.Â
