Trei Thorogood broke a school record that had stood for 11 years in the 200-meter dash on Saturday at the Bob Pollock Invitational, hosted by Clemson.
The record is Thorogood's second of the year. He has tied the school record twice in the 60-meter dash. The 200-meter record of 21.09 was held by Jaquan Holland, which he set in 2013.
He posted the fifth-best time at the meet, with a time of 21.05 seconds, 0.04 seconds faster than the previous Orange best. It's the second-fastest time in the ACC to date this season.
In addition to Thorogood competing at Clemson, the Orange women were in action at the John Thomas Invitational at Boston University.
Savannah Roark turned in a top-10 finish in the invitational heat of the 3,000-meter run. Her time of 9:13.70 was 10th overall, but was the second-fastest among collegiate competitors. Olivia Joly (9:45.91) was 25th overall in the event, followed one spot later by Beatriz Fernandes (9:47.08). Madeline Heintz posted a new personal-best time of 9:53.82, followed by Siobhan O'Keefe (10:03.29) and Olivia Shattuck (10:25.26).
Rylie Lusk set a new personal-best time in the mile, crossing the line in 4:50.19 to lead all Orange finishers. Teammates Ellie Lawler (4:51.19), Sophia Jacobs-Townsley (4:51.68) and Baneet Baines (4:51.68) were all within a half second of Lusk and also posted PRs.
Justus Holden-Betts continued the personal-best trend in the event, finishing with a time of 4:53.32. Caroline Kirby (4:55.18), Leah Futey (5:05.63) and Bethany Steiner (5:10.48) also turned in strong performances for the Orange.
'Cuse is back in action next weekend with three events, the Harvard Crimson Elite, the Scarlet and White Invitational and the Fast Trax Invite.
