
Men’s Soccer Adds to 2024 Recruiting Class

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Head coach Ian McIntrye and his coaching staff announced 11 freshmen who will join the team in the fall. The incoming student-athletes bring experience from a variety of club teams and high levels of success to a strong Syracuse team. In addition to the 11 incoming first years, freshman Aboyke Bikyeombe enrolled to the University in January, joining the nine mid-year transfers from other institutions.
"We are delighted to announce our recruiting class and welcome these outstanding young men to campus," said McIntyre. "This talented freshman class provides us excellent depth and critical balance to our roster. Our coaching staff has taken time over the past year to put together an exciting group of players who will complement our returning core group. It is a group that will work tirelessly for one another, and they will take tremendous pride in representing Syracuse University. We look forward to, once again, challenging ourselves against the very best college programs this fall. Hopefully we will continue to evolve and improve as a group so that we can be playing our best soccer in November and December."
Dominic Bell – Orlando, Fla. – Orlando City B
Dominic Bell will join the Orange after multiple years with Orlando City Academy and three appearances with Orlando City B. The Orlando, Fla., native had two goals in his senior season and one U.S. national team camp call-up under his belt. As team captain, Bell led Orlando City Academy to the semifinals of the MLS Next Playoffs for the second year in a row.
Kelvin da Costa – Maputo, Mozambique – Woodstock Academy
Kelvin da Costa arrives in Central New York after an undefeated season with Woodstock Academy and appearances with NYCFC U17. He tallied three assists in his senior season. The Maputo, Mozambique, native was named United Soccer Coaches All-American in 2023, adding to his honors of becoming CSCA All-State, All-New England and Prep Player of the Year in his final season at Woodstock Academy. da Costa also participated in the High School All-American game alongside Garrett Holman and Sachiel Ming.
Kristjan Fortier – Toronto, Ontario – Toronto FC
Kristjan Fortier arrives in the U.S. after claiming team MVP for an undefeated senior season at St. Michael's College School. The Canadian midfielder tallied four goals and 12 assists in 2023 to help lead St. Michael's to a League 1 Reserve Championship. Fortier also made appearances through MLS Next with Toronto FC.
Jack Grossman – Walnut Creek, Calif. – De Anza Force SC
Jack Grossman will be joining the Orange following appearances with De Anza Force SC. The Walnut Creek, Calif., native traveled to the MLS Next Cup in 2022 and 2023 and claimed a Futsal National Championship in 2021. Grossman tallied five goals and 10 assists in his senior season.
Garrett Holman – Hamburg, N.J. – Phillips Academy/New England Revolution
Garrett Holman joins Syracuse after a 15-2-4 season at Phillips Academy, tallying three assists in 2023. The Hamburg, N.J., native was named a United Soccer Coaches All-American, All-NEPSAC and was nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year in his senior season. With the New England Revolution, Holman participated in the MLS Next Cup in 2022 and 2023. Holman also participated in the High School All-American game alongside Kelvin da Costa and Sachiel Ming.
Kyle Jansen – Marietta Ga. – Atlanta United
An experienced goalkeeper, Kyle Jansen joins the Orange's newest recruiting class after a stint on the South Africa U17 National Team. Jansen has been with Atlanta United since U-12 and tallied six matches played, 25 saves and three clean sheets in 2023.
Sachiel Ming - Southampton, Bermuda – Northwood School
Sachiel Ming arrives in Central New York following a successful season with Northwood School, tallying 29 games played, 23 goals and 20 assists in his final season. The Southampton, Bermuda, native was named a 2024 All-American and East All-American MVP. In 2023, Ming was named Black Rock FC U19 MVP. Ming participated in the High School All-American game alongside Kelvin da Costa and Garrett Holman.
Quinn Olcott – Fayetteville, N.Y. – Rochester NY FC
A local product, Quinn Olcott joins the Orange after four years at Fayetteville-Manlius High School and appearances with Rochester NY FC for MLS Next. Olcott was named team captain at Fayetteville-Manlius for his senior season.
Chimere Omeze – Brampton, Ontario – Toronto FC
Chimere Omeze joins Syracuse after stints with St. Edmund Campion and Toronto FC. The Brampton, Ontario, native scored 10 goals and tallied seven assists to help St. Edmund post a 13-1-3 record. Omeze most recently represented Canada nationally at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia in Nov. 2023.
Sam Sery – Gastonia, N.C. – Charlotte FC
Sam Sery spent the last four years with Charlotte FC, tallying the most minutes on the team in 2022 and 2023. The California-born defender made history after scoring the first goal in Charlotte FC Academy's history in 2020. During his senior season, Sery had three assists. The two-year captain also participated in the MLS Next Fall and Spring League, the MLS Cup, MLS Next Playoffs, the Generation adidas Cup and MLS Next Pro.
Alex Wharton – Smyrna, Ga. – Southern Soccer Academy/Woodward Academy
Alex Wharton arrives in Syracuse after contributing four goals and 11 assists to a 13-2-1 record for Woodward Academy. The forward also earned Performance of the Year after a showing vs. Charlotte FC U-17. Over the course of four years, Wharton has tallied 32 goals and 39 assists in his career.
