Puck Drop
- The first true road series of the season is up next for Syracuse women's ice hockey as the Orange head for M&T Bank Arena to take on the No. 10 Bobcats of Quinnipiac. Game time on Friday is set for 6 p.m. with a 3 p.m. puck drop on Saturday. Both games are slated for broadcast on ESPN+.
- Syracuse and the Bobcats meet for the first time since the first round of the 2021-22 NCAA Tournament, a 4-0 Quinnipiac win.
- Over the last five meetings, the Bobcats have a one-game edge on the Orange.
- Conversely, this weekend will be the first full home weekend for Quinnipiac in the regular season, with Friday's game set to be just the second home game of the season for the 4-2-0 Bobcats.
SPECIAL TEAMS ARE KILLING IT
- Syracuse special teams units have been sturdy through the first five games of the season.Â
- The Orange rank third in the country in power-play percentage, converting at a 44.4 percent clip this year.
- The penalty kill unit is also in the top third so far this season, checking in at 29th with a 75.0 kill percentage.Â
- Helping Syracuse's cause is taking so few penalties this year. The Orange average just 5.60 minutes in penalty a game, which ranks tied for 34th nationally, but is boosted by five time serving penalties in the St. Lawrence game. Syracuse is ranked 12th in the country in total penalty minutes (28).
- Tatum White is currently tied for third in the country for individual power play goals with a pair.
We Have That In Common: Quinnipiac
- Syracuse and the Bobcats share four opponents this season.
- The Orange have played two of those teams, St. Lawrence and RPI, a combined three times.
- All four teams are members of ECAC Hockey, the home league for Quinnipiac women's ice hockey. The Bobcats have not yet begun conference play.
