’Cuse Falls at Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Syracuse men's soccer (6-5-3, 1-3-2 ACC) fell to Virginia (7-4-3, 3-2-2 ACC), 3-0, on Saturday night at Klöckner Stadium. The Cavaliers took an early two-goal lead in the first 16 minutes of the contest, before adding a third score in the second half to top the Orange.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Syracuse earned the first shot of the evening early in the contest, but it was UVA who took a 1-0 lead with a score in the 10th minute. The Cavaliers doubled their advantage just six minutes later, sending a ball to the back of the net.
Despite the Orange not being able to break through in the first half, 'Cuse edged the Cavaliers in shots on goal in the first half, 4-3. The Orange created multiple strong chances to score, but the UVA goalkeeper held strong in the net.
UVA added its third goal of the game in the second half, capitalizing on a set-piece opportunity to extend its lead.
Syracuse added an additional five shots in the second half, but ultimately fell, 3-0, to Virginia.
OF NOTE:
Syracuse will continue its road stand on Friday, Oct. 25 when it trips to South Carolina to take on the Clemson Tigers. The game is slated to broadcast nationally on ACC Network and will kick off at 8 p.m.

- SU edges UVA in corners, 3-1, and shots on goal, 7-6.
- Sachiel Ming earned a spot in the starting XI for the first time since Sept. 2 against Le Moyne for his fifth start of the season.
- Dominic Bell earned a spot in the starting lineup for the fourth-straight game. The freshman also went the distance for the fourth-consecutive outing.
