SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse men's soccer (4-4-3, 0-2-2 ACC) returns to SU Soccer Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 5 to host the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame (5-1-3, 2-1-0 ACC). The contest will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.

Saturday's contest will be the program's Orange Out, as members of the Orange community are invited to wear orange. The first 500 fans in attendance will also receive an SU Soccer rally towel.

The members of the 'Cuse soccer team will also be wearing orange, as players and coaches on both teams will be sporting specal orange warm up shirts to honor the life and legacy of Malia Jusczyk, who passed away at age 14 in June of 2023 after battling relapsed neuroblastoma. The t-shirts were designed by Malia's father, Glen Jusczyk, one of head coach Ian McIntyre's former teammates.Â

'Cuse Update
Goals from Braedon Smith, Michael Acquah, and Daniel Burko helped Syracuse move back into the win column with a 3-1 victory over UAlbany on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Casey Stadium.

The Orange took a 2-0 lead eight and a half minutes into the contest on back-to-back goals from Smith and Acquah who both net their first scores of the season. Burko added a third tally in the 61st minute for his third goal in five games.

The Orange have had their goals come in a variety of ways this season, as 12 different players have found the back of the net on SU's 17 total goals this campaign.ÂÂ

Burko and Gabe Threadgold are tied for the team-high in points with six apiece. Burko's points have come all via goals, while Threadgold has two goals and two assists on the season.

2024 Promotional Schedule: Orange Out
Saturday's contest against the Fighting Irish will be an Orange Out at SU Soccer Stadium. Fans are encoraged to support 'Cuse by wearing orange to the match.

For the second-consecutive match, there will be free SU Soccer rally towels for the first 500 fans in attendance. T-shirts will also be tossed following each Syracuse goal.

The match against Notre Dame will count as two entries in Syracuse men's soccer season-long giveaway! On SU's Senior Night vs. Pittsburgh, a winner will be selected to win an autographed ball signed by the entire 'Cuse team.

Scouting the Fighting Irish
Notre Dame, who received one vote in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, has dropped just one contest this season, playing to a 5-1-3 record through nine games. The Fighting Irish's lone loss was to Stanford, 1-0, on Sept. 14.

The Fighting Irish hold a winning record in ACC play following their first three games. ND has defeated both Louisville (Sept. 6) and Clemson (Sept. 27) by scores of 2-1.
Senior forward Matthew Roou leads the ACC in multiple offensive stat categories, including goals (10), goals per game (1.11), points (20), points per game (2.22), shots (35), and shots per game (3.89). The native of Germantown, Wis. was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 1 for his efforts on the attack this season.

Saturday's match will be the 22nd all-time game between the Orange and the Fighting Irish in a series that dates back to the 1982 season.

Notre Dame has a 15-4 advantage over 'Cuse in wins in the series, however, the last time the teams matched up in 2022, Syracuse earned a 1-0 win at home. SU also earned a 1-0 win over ND in the 2015 ACC Championship.
