ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Syracuse University women's ice hockey team completed a series sweep with a 1-0 shutout victory over RIT on Saturday afternoon at the Gene Polisseni Center in Rochester, New York in an Atlantic Hockey America showdown.
Syracuse (4-9-0, 2-2-0 AHA) took an early lead with a goal from Nea Tervonen with an assist from Peyton Armstrong and Jessica Cheung. Goalkeeper Allie Kelley anchored the 'Cuse defense, making 33 saves, including 16 in the third period to thwart RIT's final attempts.
RIT (6-5-3, 1-2-1 AHA) tallied 79 total shots but never got on the board, resulting in a shutout. Goalie Sophie Bellina made 12 saves for the Tigers.
