
Syracuse Edges Lindenwood 2-1 in AHA Battle

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – The Syracuse University women's ice hockey team secured a 2-1 victory over Lindenwood in an Atlantic Hockey America matchup Friday evening at Centene Community Ice Center.
Syracuse (5-9-0, 3-2-0 AHA) struck first with an unassisted goal from Peyton Armstrong, followed by Charli Kettyle's go-ahead score with assists from Bryn Saarela and Jackson Kinsler to double the lead. Goalkeeper Allie Kelley was a standout in the net, making 30 saves across 60 minutes, shutting down the Lions' hopes of a comeback. Kelley's fellow captain, Tatum White, hit a career milestone, recording her 1,000th faceoff win and ending the night with 1,007.
Lindenwood (2-12-1, 1-4-0 AHA) narrowed the gap with a goal by Zsofia Pazmandi, assisted by Molly Henderson and Tatem Starlight-Yellowfly. Lindenwood goalie Anna Larose tallied 20 saves, including nine in the first period, six in the second period, and five in the third.

How it Happened
- The first period was a defensive battle, with Lindenwood firing 11 shots, but Syracuse's defense held the Lions off the board.
- The Orange broke through first as late in the second as Armstrong launched a shot past the Lions' goalie, giving Syracuse a 1-0 lead with just 18 seconds left in the second.
- At the 8:17 mark in the final period, Kettyle capitalized on a power play, finding the net to extend Syracuse's lead to 2-0. Saarela and Kinsler picked up assists with the advantage.
- Lindenwood responded with an even-strength goal as Henderson set up Pazmandi to put the Lions on the board.
- In the final minute, Lindenwood pulled its goalie and launched a trio of shots, but Syracuse's goalie Kelley stood tall in net, sealing the Orange's 2-1 victory.
- Sami Gendron led with three blocks and Charlotte Hallett stayed close behind with two blocks on the night.
