11/16/2024 12:59:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The Syracuse women's basketball team (1-2) continues its five-game home stand this Sunday against FDU (4-0). The Orange are celebrating Military Appreciation Day and will recognize Michelle M. Johnson, a United States Army Sergeant Major Retired and current Syracuse University doctoral candidate, as the Hometown Hero. The first 250 people to make it inside the JMA Wireless Dome will receive a free Syracuse camouflage bucket hat. Tip-off is slated for 2 PM and will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra both online and through the ESPN app.
Â
'Cuse looks to swing the momentum around after an 11-point loss to No. 11 Maryland, 84-73, last Wednesday in the Loud House. Four SU players scored in double figures, led by Georgia Woolley with 17 points. The Orange scored eight three-pointers in the contest, their most in a game all season. Syracuse is below .500 after three games after losing back-to-back non conference games at home, the first time both have happened since the 2006-07 season.
Â
FDU travels to the Dome after a 67-56 win over Bucknell to move to 4-0 on the season. The Knights are off to their best start since their 1991-92 campaign. The Knights are led by Ava Renninger, who is averaging 13.8 points on 38.8% shooting for the season.
Â
Syracuse and FDU will meet for the fourth time in program history and the first since the 2012-13 season. The Orange lead the series all-time 3-0, last winning 94-47 inside the Loud House in Nov. 2012. All three previous contests have been home games for the Orange.
