Woolley, Camp Lift Syracuse Over Binghamton

Georgia Woolley and Dominique Camp powered the Orange offense as the Syracuse women's basketball team (5-6, 0-1 ACC) secured its first true road win of the season with an 87-60 victory over Binghamton (6-5, 0-0 America East) on Wednesday night in Vestal, N.Y. The Orange shot an efficient 35-of-70 (50 percent) from the field and connected on eight three-pointers, marking their highest-scoring performance away from the JMA Wireless Dome this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Syracuse offense started the game strong, shooting 11-of-19 (57.9 percent) from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, to post a 27-point first quarter. The Orange closed the opening frame on an 8-0 run, sparked by a Madeline Potts three-pointer, to carry a 10-point lead into the second quarter.
The Orange pushed their lead to as many as 14 points in the second quarter, but the Bearcats stayed close, being narrowly edged 18-17 in the frame to keep the gap at 11 points (45-34) at halftime.
Binghamton opened the third quarter with a 7-3 run to cut the deficit to 48-41 just two minutes into the frame, but Syracuse responded with a dominant 23-3 run to close out the quarter, extending its lead to 71-44.
The Orange stretched their lead to a game-high 32 points in the final quarter while tying the Bearcats, 16-16, in the frame to secure an 87-60 road victory.
SHARP SHOOTING WOOLLEY
Woolley led all scorers with 18 points, fueled by a season-best shooting performance. The senior shot 6-of-10 (60 percent) from the field, including 3-of-4 (75 percent) from beyond the arc. She has now paced the Orange in scoring six times this season and has reached double figures in nine games.
Woolley also made her presence felt beyond scoring, contributing six assists and four rebounds in the victory.
HELPING HAND DOM CAMP
Camp was stellar in the passing game against the Bearcats, recording a team-high eight assists in the win. The graduate student's 39 assists on the season are tied with teammate Woolley for the team lead.
On the defensive side, Camp made an impact with a season-high and Syracuse-best four steals, helping the SU defense force 23 turnovers that led to 27 points for the Orange.
OF NOTE
'Cuse returns to the JMA Dome on Saturday, Dec. 21 for its final nonconference contest of the season against Dartmouth. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. and the contest will air live on ACC Network Extra.

- Sophie Burrows finished the night with 11 points, marking her sixth double-figure performance of the season. The sophomore also contributed four rebounds and two assists in the victory.
- Izabel Varejao also reached double figures for the third time this season, scoring 11 points in 16 minutes off the bench.
- Journey Thompson scored an efficient 12 points in just 15 minutes off the bench in the win.
- Potts scored a career-high nine points, including a personal-best three made three-pointers, in the win.
- The Orange showcased balanced scoring in their win, with 10 of the 13 players who saw the floor contributing points for 'Cuse.
- Syracuse grabbed 37 rebounds as a team, just edging Binghamton's 33 boards.
- The Orange defense was clicking on all cylinders in the win, as they forced the Bearcats into 23 turnovers, while recording a season-best 10 blocks and 15 steals.
- SU's bench dominated the battle between non-starters with 42 points compared to the home bench's 18.
- Syracuse moves to 9-1 in the all-time series against Binghamton.
- The win is SU's first true road victory of the 2024-25 campaign and moves the team to 5-6 on the season.
- SU's 87 points in the win is its most in a contest away from the JMA Dome this season.
