Texas A&M Beats 'Cuse in SEC/ACC Challenge, 57-45

The Syracuse women's basketball (4-5, 0-0 ACC) team was edged by Texas A&M (5-4, 0-0 SEC), 57-45, on Wednesday night at Reed Arena in the SEC/ACC Challenge.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange opened the game strong, scoring the contest's first seven points and ending the first quarter with a 15-10 lead. The Aggies narrowed the gap in the second quarter, outscoring Syracuse 14-11, but the Orange held on to a 26-24 advantage at halftime.
Texas A&M claimed its first lead of the night with back-to-back jumpers to start the second half and extended the advantage to eight points by the end of the third quarter, 45-37. Syracuse opened the final frame with a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to two, but the Aggies maintained control, holding a seven-point lead with just over two minutes to play. A 10-0 run to close the game secured Texas A&M's 57-45 victory.
WOOD DOUBLE-DOUBLE NO. 2
Kyra Wood paced the Syracuse offense with her second double-double of the season, finishing the game with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The performance marked the fifth time this season the senior has led the way for SU on the glass.
SCOTT ON THE RISE
Freshman Keira Scott made the most of her second-career start for the Orange, tallying a team-high 14 points. The Falls Church, Virginia native has scored 64 points through Syracuse's first nine games, leading all Orange freshmen.

Syracuse returns home to host No. 10 Notre Dame on Sunday, Dec. 8 at noon. The ACC opener will be televised nationally on ACC Network. At halftime, Syracuse University Athletics will retire Kayla Alexander's #40 jersey for it to be displayed in the rafters of the JMA Wireless Dome as Alexander becomes the second women's basketball player to have her Syracuse jersey retired.Â
