After setting nine personal-best times across two meets on Friday, the Orange came back and set two new school records, saw the first true-freshman sub-four minute mile in program history and added seven more PRs on Saturday across meets in Clemson, South Carolina and Boston, Massachusetts.
Trei Thorogood bested his own school record in the 200-meter dash, running to a time of 20.86 seconds. Only 24 men in the nation have posted a faster time than 20.86 in the event as of the conclusion of Friday's meets. Thorogood was seventh overall at the Tiger Paw Invite.
Kahniya James set her second career best of the weekend in the 200, racing to a time of 24.33 seconds. Shaleah Colaire also competed in the event, posting a time of 24.94 seconds.
At the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Benne Anderson became the ninth Orange man – and first true freshman – to break the historic four-minute mile barrier. He finished in 3:58.78, winning his heat.
Perry Mackinnon then set a new indoor 5k school record of 13:34.49, besting Colin Bennie's (13:38.81) old mark from 2016. Mackinnon was 24th overall at the meet (ninth among collegiate competitors).
Teammate Paul O'Donnell (13:43.09) was 37th overall with a new personal best. Alex Comerford (13:57.82), Sam Lawler (14:03.93), Connor Ackley (14:07.47) in a new PR, Silas Derfel (14:11.60), Assaf Harari (14:19.30) and Ethan Wechsler (14:36.45) also raced.
Eamon Burke ran to a time of 8:22.02 in the 3,000-meter run, which was a new personal best for him as well.
Alexander Segarra (1:53.82) and Ryder Kriley (1:57.27) raced in the 800.
'Cuse will close the regular season next weekend at Cornell, before heading to the ACC Championships in two weeks.
