
Three Orange Named to Tewaaraton Watch List

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Syracuse graduate students Delaney Sweitzer and Emma Tyrrell and senior Emma Ward are members of the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. The initial Watch List was announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Friday, Feb. 16.

The Watch List includes players from across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse. The Tewaaraton Award is presented annually to the top female and male college lacrosse players in the nation.

Sweitzer earned the 2023 IWLCA Goalkeeper of the Year award after finishing seventh nationally in saves with a career-high 185. She was also eighth in save percentage (.505), 12th in goals-against average (9.20) and third in ground balls per game (3.71). Sweitzer earned first-team All-America honors from the IWLCA, Inside Lacrosse Magazine and USA Lacrosse Magazine.

Tyrrell scored three or more goals in 10 games last season on her way to career highs in points (68) and goals (52). She earned All-Northeast Region First Team honors and was a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Third Team and Inside Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-America selection.

Ward ranked third in the nation in assists in 2023 with a career-high 56. That total ranks third on Syracuse's single-season record list. She posted five or more points in nine games and finished with a career-best 94 points. Ward earned IWLCA All-America First Team honors and was voted to the All-ACC First Team as well as the ACC All-Tournament Team.
