ORLANDO, FLA. – Former Syracuse midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski has signed a First Team contract with Orlando City SC through 2024, with club options for 2025, 2026 and 2027. Kocevski was drafted by the team with the 21st overall selection in the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft.
Â
"Congratulations to Jeorgio on signing with Orlando City SC," said Syracuse head coach Ian McIntyre. "We all know how hard that he's worked to get to this moment. He has come a very long way from being a ball boy at the SU Soccer Stadium. Good luck to Jeo, this is just the beginning for this special young man."
Â
The Liverpool, N.Y., native had a stellar four-year career with the Orange. A 2023 team captain, Kocevski appeared in 71 collegiate contests, making 65 starts to go along with seven goals and 32 points. In 2023, the midfielder scored one goal and recorded 12 assists for Syracuse, earning All-ACC First Team honors and the program's first ACC Midfielder of the Year award.
Â
Kocevski also was tabbed United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-South Region First Team, College Soccer News All-American Third Team, ECAC Second Team and checked in at No. 27 in Top Drawer Soccer's Postseason National Top 100 for his performance on the pitch this past season.
Â
Kocevski is the third Syracuse player selected by Orlando City SC, joining Kamal Miller (2nd round, 27th overall in 2019) and former teammate Abdi Salim (1st round, 17th overall in 2023).
Â
A member of the program's first NCAA Championship, Kocevski is one-of-seven members from the treble season that were selected over the last two MLS Drafts.
Â
Syracuse has had 30 players drafted by MLS teams, with 23 of the selections occurring under head coach Ian McIntyre. The 2024 MLS SuperDraft was the ninth draft where the Orange had multiple selections (Olu Oyegunle 33rd overall to Chicago Fire). Syracuse also had a player drafted in nine of the last 10 MLS SuperDrafts, including a program-record five in the 2023 draft.
