
Four Named to Preseason All-ACC Team

Syracuse Picked to Finish Second in Preseason Coaches Poll
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Four members of the Syracuse women's lacrosse team earned a spot on the Preseason All-ACC Team announced on Tuesday, Feb. 6. The Orange were picked second in the preseason poll in a vote by the league head coaches.

Graduate students Delaney Sweitzer and Emma Tyrrell and seniors Katie Goodale and Emma Ward were among the 18 players named to the preseason all-league team. Sweitzer is the reigning ACC and IWLCA Goalkeeper of the Year. She ranked in the top 12 in the nation in four statistical categories in 2023. Tyrrell posted career highs in points (68) and goals (52) last season, earning All-Northeast Region First Team honors. Goodale led the team with 27 caused turnovers last season and was second with 27 ground balls. She earned second-team All-Northeast Region honors. Ward ranked third nationally in 2023 with a career-high 56 assists. She also finished with a career-best 94 points on her way to IWLCA All-America First Team accolades.

The Orange were picked to finish second in the ACC in the preseason coaches poll. Syracuse earned one first-place vote and 83 points. Boston College is the preseason favorite after receiving eight first-place votes and 98 points. The Orange and Eagles shared the regular-season ACC title a year ago.

North Carolina was picked third (80 pts.), while Notre Dame received one first-place vote and 78 points to finish fourth in the poll. Virginia (55 pts.) was fifth, followed by Clemson (46 pts.), Duke (43 pts.), Virginia Tech (35 pts.), Louisville (20 pts.) and Pittsburgh (12 pts.).

Syracuse opens the 2024 season on Saturday, Feb. 10, at defending national champion Northwestern at 1 p.m. Eastern Time in Evanston, Illinois. The Orange host Army in their home opener at the JMA Wireless Dome on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 4 p.m. Season, individual and group tickets for the 2024 campaign are on sale now at Cuse.com/tickets.
