Orange Are 11th in CRCA Preseason Poll

Syracuse is ranked 11th in the 2024 Pocock/CRCA preseason poll. Sixth-year head coach Luke McGee's squad includes 36 returning student-athletes from the 2022-23 team that placed 13th at the NCAA Championship and took second at the ACC Championship. The Orange have earned invitations to six of the last seven NCAA Championships.

The Orange schedule features 10 teams in the top 20, including races against #1 Stanford, #5 Yale, #7 Penn, #8 Cal, #12 Ohio State, #16 Indiana, #19 Radcliffe and #20 Oregon State, in addition to Atlantic Coast Conference opponents #10 Virginia and #13 Duke.

The Orange will start the 2024 season with a scrimmage at the University of Virginia on March 16th after their Spring Training Camp in Clemson, S.C. Syracuse's first official race will be at the ACC/Big 10/Ivy Dual in Cherry Hill, N.J. on March 23. The Orange will race #16 Indiana, #7 Penn and #19 Radcliffe in the morning session and #12 Ohio State in the afternoon.

During the fall racing season, the Orange varsity eight finished 13th and the second varsity eight took 26th in the Women's Championship Eight race at the 58th annual Head of the Charles on the Charles River in Cambridge, Mass. At the 2023 Cornell Autumn Classic, Syracuse competed in two 4.8K races on the Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca, N.Y. The races against Cornell and Ithaca started in the Inlet and finished the final 3K on the lake. In the first event, Syracuse's first, second, third and fourth varsity fours finished in the top four spots, while the fifth and sixth varsity fours placed 10th and 11th, respectively. The Orange first, second and third eights placed first through third, respectively, and fifth varsity eight took seventh. The fourth varsity eight took second in its heat.
