Led by the ACC Coach of the Year Felisha Legette-Jack, the Syracuse women's basketball team (23-6, 13-5 ACC) starts its quest for an ACC Championship on Friday, March 8 when they face No. 6 seed Florida State at 7:30 p.m. on the ACC Network.Â
Syracuse is the No. 3 seed after finishing 13-5 in the ACC and earned the double bye for the second time since joining the conference. 'Cuse was picked to finish ninth in the league in the preseason poll.Â
The Orange enter the ACC Tournament on the heels of their best regular season since 2015-16, tying program record for most regular season wins with 23 and most conference wins with 13. The six conference road victories this season also tie a program record for road conference wins since joining the ACC in 2013-14. SU comes into the tournament ranked No. 20 in both polls and well rested after having its long-awaited bye week on the final day of the regular season. Â
After a come-from-behind overtime win for Florida State over Clemson on Sunday, the Seminoles earned the No. 6 seed for the 2024 Ally ACC Women's Basketball Tournament. FSU made quick work of Wake Forest, 70-53, in Thursday night's second round game at the Greensboro Coliseum to advance and face Syracuse on Friday in the quarterfinals. Â
The two teams met once during the regular season, when Syracuse used an 18-point second half comeback to defeat the Seminoles, 79-73, at the JMA Wireless Dome on Jan. 18. Dyaisha Fair had 31 points in the win while setting a program record for three-pointers in a game going 9-for-14 from downtown.Â
Syracuse is 9-10 all-time in the ACC Tournament and looking for its first win since 2021. Last year, 'Cuse was the 9-seed and lost to 8-seed NC State in the second round last March. Four Orange players, including current guards Georgia Woolley and Dyaisha Fair in the loss. Â
Fans can watch the action live on ACC Network starting with pregame at 7:15 p.m. Debbie Antonelli and Jenn Hildreth will be on the call.Â
