
20 PRs set for Track on Friday

Four event wins and 11 new personal bests highlighted a strong day at the Virginia Challenge for the Syracuse track and field teams, while nine more career bests got set at the Bobbi Palma Spring Classic.Â
True freshman Benne Anderson won the invite section of the 1,500-meter run, posting a finish of 3:40.59. His time is in the top-30 nationally this season and is fifth among freshmen (redshirt or true). Perry Mackinnon set a PR in the event, taking seventh with a time of 3:45.70.
Five Syracuse women set PRs in the 5,000-meter run. In the invite section of the field, Rylie Lusk (unattached) led the way in fifth place (15:58.67), followed one place behind by Ellie Lawler (16:01.60). The main field was led by Emma Eastman, who was also competing unattached, and was runner up in 16:30.60. She was followed by Olivia Joly (16:44.42) in sixth and Siobhan O'Keefe (16:58.47) in eighth.
Paul O'Donnell came away victorious in the 10,000-meter run after posting a new PR in 28:39.11.
The men saw Connor Ackley take seventh (13:55.59) in the men's invite section of the 5k, which was a new PR. Ethan Wechsler also set a career best in 14:14.02. The main field was led by a 10th-place finish from Ruben Rojas Betanzos in 14:28.63.Â
Savannah Roark won her section of the 1,500-meters in 4:22.12, in what was her first collegiate race at the distance.
Madison Neuner set a new PR in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:07.67) in a runner-up finish to Penn State's Faith Demars (10:06.92)
Sam Lawler was 10th in the men's 1500 (3:45.66), followed by Alex Comerford (16th/3:46.17) and Silas Derfel (28th/3:48.77) in a field of 60 competitors.
In Albany, the Orange took four of the top-five spots in the 110-meter hurdles. Emanuel Joseph (14.00 seconds) was the runner-up with a new PR, followed by Naseem Smith (14.04), Anthony Vazquez (14.17) and Isaiah Lewis (14.18). Vazquez and Lewis also had career-best marks.
Taleea Buxton placed second and had a new 100-meter dash PR. She posted a time of 13.70 seconds, followed by Peyton Rollins (14.47), Olivia Etienvre (15.23) and Kirstyn Schechter (15.90). Etienvre's time was a career best as well.
Trei Thorogood finished second in the 100-meter dash in 10.41 seconds. Kaleia Arrington was fifth in the women's race with a time of 12.31 seconds. Peyton Rollins was two spots back in 12.57 seconds, followed by Olivia Garner in ninth (12.65 seconds). Arrington later was fifth in the 200, crossing the line in PR time of 25.64 seconds, followed by Shayla Ford (26.13 seconds) in eighth.
The Orange swept the top-four spots in the women's 1,500-meter run, and posted seven of the top-nine finishers. Beatriz Fernandes won the race in a PR time of 4:43.80. Bethany Steiner (4:44.82), Tess Fitzmaurice (4:50.16) and Olivia Shattuck (4:51.02) were close behind in second, third and fourth, respectively. Leah Futey (4:53.72) and Lizzie Bigelow (5:02.02) placed sixth and seventh, while Madeline Lutz (5:07.64), Lucy Zombek (5:16.17) and Kayla Harding (5:43.26) rounded out the field. Lutz and Harding's times were both career bests.
Joey Hendershot took fourth in the men's 1,500-meter run (4:04.85), followed by Ryder Kriley in sixth (4:06.08) and Patrick Malone in ninth (4:14.13).
