
Four Orange Named To CSC Academic All-District Team

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis program had Shiori Ito, Viktoriya Kanapatskaya, Anastasia Sysoeva and Polina Kozyreva earn selections for the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Women's Tennis Team.

The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the court and in the classroom. To earn the honor, student-athletes are required to be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and they must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or above. For women's tennis, eligible nominees need to participate in a minimum of 70% of total matches played by the squad during the season that include team scores.

Ito finished the spring season with an overall singles record of 9-11, playing across spots four, five and six. The Saitama, Japan native picked up four ACC singles wins and won four consecutive nonconference singles matches to begin the season.

Kanapatskaya has been invited as a doubles pair with Miyuka Kimoto for the NCAA Individual Championships in the doubles bracket. The senior amassed nine doubles wins and nine singles victories throughout the spring season. She and Kimoto took down the No. 14 ranked duo of Melodie Collard and Elaine Chervinsky from No. 5 Virginia this past season.

Sysoeva completed her first season for the Orange with 12 triumphs in the singles event, the most on the squad this year. Three of her seven wins in the ACC came against opponents ranked inside the top 25 in the ITA rankings. She finished the season on a three-game win streak in singles, defeating opponents from Miami, Notre Dame and Louisville.

Kozyreva ended the 2024 spring season with 15 wins across singles and doubles competitions. The Belgorod, Russia native went a perfect 5-0 in matches at the number one and two singles spots. She earned the second most singles victories on the team this season with 11, five of which came in ACC contests.
