Best Crews on the East Coast Meet Sunday at Eastern Sprints

With one of the strongest fields in history, the Syracuse men's rowing team looks to podium for the second-straight year at the EARC Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 19, at Lake Quinsigamond State Park in Worcester, Mass. Racing begins at 8 a.m. Sunday with morning heats and concludes at 5:30 p.m. with the Varsity Eight Grand Final. Fans unable to attend in person can follow along with live results or watch the regatta live on Overnght.
The Orange Varsity Eight (V8) earned the program's first medal at Eastern Sprints in over 40 years when 'Cuse placed third in the grand final behind Yale and Princeton. Syracuse is ranked seventh in the nation entering Sunday's regatta.
The first heat of the morning for SU is the 4th Varsity Eight (4V8) in Heat #2 at 8:10 a.m. The Orange line up with Dartmouth, Princeton, Navy and Holy Cross and will be in Lane 3. Syracuse has faced both Dartmouth and Navy earlier this season but will see Princeton and Holy Cross for the first time in 2024.
The 3V8 is set to line up with Princeton. Boston U, Wisconsin and Georgetown in Heat #1 (Lane 2) at 8:30 a.m. The Orange 3V8 beat BU by 4.95 seconds at the Lake Morey Invite three weeks earlier and had an open water win over Georgetown on April 28.
The Varsity Eight is set for Heat #2 at 9:14 a.m. in Lane 2 The Orange line up with Harvard, Dartmouth, Cornell and Georgetown with the Crimson being the only crew SU hasn't already faced during the regular season. Syracuse earned head-to-head wins over Dartmouth and Cornell to claim the Packard and Conlan Cups at the Lake Morey Invite on April 27 and conclude the weekend with an open water win over Georgetown on Sunday, April 28.
The final race of the morning for SU is the 2nd Varsity Eight (2V8) at 10:24 a.m. The Orange will be in Lane 3 and line up with Harvard, BU, Columbia and Wisconsin. When Syracuse and the Terriers met at Lake Morey three weeks ago, Boston U narrowly beat SU by 0.4 seconds in a photo finish.
The top two teams in each heat advance straight to the Grand Final of their event. The afternoon session is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
