Anderson Becomes Third Orange to Qualify for NCAA Championships

After placing two runners into the NCAA Championships over the first two nights of competition, the Orange added another to their tally on Friday at the NCAA East Prelims.
True freshman Benne Anderson set a new personal best in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:39.99, the sixth-fastest time across both heats, to earn his spot in Eugene. Anderson's heat was the much faster of the two and claimed both advancing runners based on times.
Anderson joins Savannah Roark and Sam Lawler in the group that is headed to Eugene, Oregon for the NCAA Championships.
Jaheem Hayles was the other member of the Orange to compete on Friday, racing to a time of 14.11 seconds after clipping a hurdle. His stellar season, where he won the ACC Indoor title in the 60-meter hurdles, added another First Team All-America finish and was runner-up at outdoors, came to a close.
Two more Orange runners can still punch their tickets to nationals. Ellie Lawler (5,000-meters) and Madison Neuner (3,000-meter steeplechase) will conclude the meet on Saturday.
