6/4/2024 4:00:00 PM | Women's Rowing
The 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference champions earned a Gold Seal from the Onondaga County Legislature for winning the league title for the first time in program history. On Tuesday, June 4 Onondaga County Legislature Chairman Timoth Burtis led the Gold Seal ceremony for the Orange. Several student-athletes joined head coach Luke McGee and the Orange coaching staff for the honor.
Syracuse's varsity eight and second varsity eight won ACC championships, each setting championship records with their performance, and the varsity eight earned the ACC Crew of the Year Award. Head coach Luke McGee was named ACC Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. The conference title earned Syracuse an automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Championship, marking the seventh time in the last eight years, and fourth in a row, that the Orange has competed at the national championship regatta.
The Orange finished 11th at the NCAA Championship. The varsity eight's eighth-place finish tied for the second-best result in program history, and the highest finish in the current format of the national championship regatta. The 2001 varsity eight placed sixth as an at-large qualifier. The varsity four placed 12th and the second varsity eight was 13th. The 11th-place team finish is the second-best in program history. In 2021, the Orange placed 10th.
