The Syracuse university ice hockey team (7-14, 5-3 AHA) fell to No. 4 Minnesota Duluth (13-5-2, 8-4-2 WHCA), 2-1, on a third-period go-ahead score on Friday at Amsoil Arena in Duluth, Minnesota. Rylee McLeod scored the lone goal for 'Cuse in the loss.
Despite the loss Allie Kelley was strong in the game, collecting a season-best 54 saves on Duluth's 56 shots on goal. The second period was a scoreless 20 minutes, as Syracuse was unable to convert on two power-play opportunities but successfully defended against all 18 of the Bulldogs' scoring attempts.
The Bulldogs broke the deadlock three minutes into the third period when Caitlin Kraemer scored the go-ahead goal off an assist from Danielle Burgen. Syracuse fired six more shots in an effort to equalize, but Minnesota held on for a 2-1 victory.
