Top Ten Game Set for Friday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – It will be another top-10 showdown at J.S. Coyne Stadium on Friday as the most recent Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll ranked both Syracuse University field hockey and North Carolina near the top. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its weekly poll Tuesday morning.
Syracuse (10-3) slipped to ninth this week with 139 points, down from fifth place last week. Northwestern remained at number one with 214 points and seven of the 11 first-place votes. North Carolina was second with 213 points and the final four top-spot selections. Virginia swapped to third place with 197 points with Harvard (190) and Wake Forest (174) rounding out the top five.
Eight opponents this season were mentioned in the week six poll from the NFHCA: No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Virginia, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 6 Princeton, No. 8 Duke, No. 12 Ohio State, No. 15 Rutgers, No. 19 California
The No. 9 Orange host second-ranked North Carolina for a Friday matinee with a 3 p.m. first push. ACC Network Extra will have Friday's game live at J.S. Coyne Stadium. This will be the third top-10 game for the Orange at home this season.
