CARY, N.C.– The No. 6-seed Orange men's soccer team will face No. 7-seed Southern Methodist in the Semifinal Round of the ACC Championship on Thursday, Nov. 13. The match will be held at First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. and will be streamed on ACC Network.Â

'Cuse UpdateÂ
No. 6-seed Syracuse took down No. 3-seed NC State in the Quarterfinal Round of the ACC Championship 3-0 on Nov. 9.Â
Sachiel Ming struck first for the Orange, scoring in the 52nd minute off of passes from Chimere Omeze and Kristjan Fortier. Carlos Zambrano added an Olimpico goal in the 69th minute and Omeze topped it off in the 86th minute with a goal of his own.Â

Graduate Student goalkeeper Tomas Hut collected nine saves, a new career high, against the Wolfpack. He now has 69 saves this season.Â
The Orange now hold a 4-3-1 record on the road and a 9-6-3 (4-3-1) record overall and have the sixth seed in the conference. This was the third ranked upset of the year for Syracuse (No.25 SMU, No.22 North Carolina, No. 5 NC State)Â

Scouting the MustangsÂ
No. 7-seed SMU upset No. 2-seed Stanford in the First Round of the ACC Championship, defeating the Cardinal 1-0.Â
Stephan Soghomonian successfully shot his penalty kick in the 60th minute to advance the Mustangs to their first ACC Semifinal Round. Â
Mustang goalkeeper Martin Dominguez leads the team with 32 saves made in his 11 games. Soren Russell has also made six appearances this season, tallying nine saves of his own. Dominguez started against Stanford, collecting 10 saves last time out.Â
Soghomonian, a forward, leads SMU offensively with 22 points this season. The sophomore has 11 goals this year, with his most recent against Stanford in the ACC Quarterfinal Round.Â

SMU reached the No. 25 spot in the United Soccer Coaches Poll in Week 7, but lost their spot after Syracuse upset the Mustangs 2-0. The Mustangs were projected to finish tied for fifth place with California in the conference according to the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll. They ended their regular season in seventh place with 12 points and a 3-2-3 conference record.

In 2024, the Mustangs finished their season tied for fourth place with a 4-2-2 conference record. SMU fell to Wake Forest in the Quarterfinal Round of the ACC Championship, but still received a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Mustangs' season ended in the Elite Eight Round after a 3-2 loss to No. 13-ranked Marshall.
