SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange men's soccer team (9-7-3, 4-3-1) welcome Hofstra (12-5-0, 7-1-0) to the pitch at the SU Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. EST for the First Round of the NCAA Championship.

 No.6-seed Syracuse fell 5-1 to No.7-seed SMU in the Semifinal Round of the ACC Championship on Nov. 13 in Cary, N.C.

Nathan Scott scored for the Orange in the 85th minute from a penalty kick. Graduate student goalkeeper Tomas Hut collected two saves.

Syracuse earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship after finishing with a 9-7-3 record and receiving votes for the United Soccer Coaches' Poll in the 11th week.

Scouting the Pride
Hofstra comes off a loss to Stony Brook in the CAA conference semifinal match 2-1 on Nov. 9.
Laurie Goddard scored the lone goal for the Pride, with an assist from Stefano Campisi in the 10th minute.
Pride goalkeeper Giona Cervoni has started in 14 games this season. The senior has allowed 10 goals this year and has collected 21 saves. Goddard leads the Pride with 27 points this season with 11 goals and five assists. Former Orange, Daniel Burko, follows close behind with 26 points through 11 goals and four assists. Goddard last scored against Stony Brook on Nov. 9, whereas Burko last scored against Drexel on Nov. 1, posting a brace.
The Pride finished their season in first place in the North division of the CAA, holding a 7-1-0 conference record. Hofstra, however, fell to Stony Brook 2-1 in the CAA Semifinal Round. The Pride still received an at large bid to make its ninth NCAA Championship appearance.
In 2024, the Pride finished their season in fourth place in the CAA with a 5-3-0 conference record. The Pride defeated UNCW to win the conference championship that year and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament. Hofstra's season ended in the First Round after a 2-1 loss to Vermont, who would go on to win the national title.
