
Orange Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day vs. UVA Sunday

Syracuse women's basketball (8-12, 2-7 ACC) returns to action against Virginia (11-11, 3-7 ACC) for National Girls and Women in Sports Day this Sunday inside the JMA Wireless Dome. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m., with coverage live on ACC Network. Tickets are on sale now at cuse.com/tickets.
SU returns home after a week off from contests, last defeating Clemson on the road last Sunday, 67-55. The Orange earned their second conference win of the season backed by a pair of double-doubles from Kyra Wood and Izabel Varejao. Both Varejao and Madeline Potts set career highs in points and rebounds against the Tigers, with Varejao scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 boards and Potts recording 13 points and grabbing five rebounds in the 12-point 'Cuse win.
Virginia travels to the 315 for the back half of a two-game road trip. The Cavaliers lost a road game to Miami on Thursday, 77-74, in Coral Gables, Fla. Latasha Lattimore led Virginia in scoring with 25 points, as Breona Hurd (14 points) also scored in double figures. UVA has dropped their last four consecutive contests.
Sunday's matchup will be the 16th game all-time between the two programs, dating back to the 1985-86 season. The Orange own the all-time series 11-4, as well as winning the past four games between the conference teams. Syracuse's last matchup against Virginia came last February in the form of an 85-79 road win that saw Georgia Woolley record 26 points help get the win.
