Syracuse women's basketball (10-14, 4-9 ACC) closes out its Bay Area road trip against California (20-6, 8-5 ACC) on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off inside the Haas Pavilion is slated for 3 p.m. (6 p.m. EST) and will be televised nationanlly on ACC Network.
The Orange look to reverse their fortune from Thursday's contest against Stanford, a 79-58 loss to the Cardinal. The loss ended a two-game win streak for the Orange, as SU failed to score over 60 points for the first time since Jan. 19 against Boston College. Georgia Woolley led 'Cuse in scoring with 18 points, while Sophie Burrows paced the team in rebounds with eight. Olivia Schmitt dished out a team-best three assists.
California hosts Syracuse after a 72-63 win against Boston College at home. The Golden Bears used a 38-18 advantage of points in the paint to triumph over the Eagles, thanks to 21 points from Michelle Onyiah. Cal shot 50% from the field in the contest and had three players score in double figures.
'Cuse and Cal have met only once before in program history during the 2002-03 season when the Golden Bears took a 57-53 victory over the Orange on Nov. 29, 2002. California were then-members of the Pac-10, with Syracuse in the Big East. Sunday afternoon will be the first contest between the two programs as conference foes in the ACC.
Syracuse will play at home next Thursday, Feb. 20 vs. North Carolina at 6 p.m. Tickets for all remaining home games can be purchased on Cuse.com/tickets or by calling the JMA Wireless Dome Box Office at 888-DOME-TIX.
